Challenge
Cabin reservations involve limited availability, member access, and remote destinations where mistakes create real inconvenience. The society needed to replace fragmented booking steps with one clear system that volunteers could manage.
Booking Platform
Custom cabin booking and member management webapp for the Mount Remo Backcountry Society: four non-motorized alpine cabins in the Terrace area of British Columbia. Members book short-term stays for backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and hut travel.

The case file
Mount Remo Backcountry Society manages four non-motorized alpine cabins in the Terrace area of British Columbia. Its members rely on those cabins for backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and hut travel, often planning trips from phones and from places where connectivity is limited.
The organization needed more than a brochure site. It needed a practical booking platform that could show cabin information and availability, support member access, and make short-term reservations easier to manage for both visitors and volunteers.
We built the experience with Astro, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, and a custom booking system. Each cabin has a clear place in the site, booking tasks are organized around real trip-planning decisions, and the administrative structure gives the society a dependable base for managing access to a shared community resource.
The brief
Cabin reservations involve limited availability, member access, and remote destinations where mistakes create real inconvenience. The society needed to replace fragmented booking steps with one clear system that volunteers could manage.
We created a cabin-first booking experience that brings availability, trip information, and member actions together. The typed application structure reduces ambiguity in booking data, while the lean front end remains usable on slow or inconsistent connections.
Problems solved
Three concrete problems on the old experience, and the fixes we shipped.
Dedicated cabin pages bring location, use, and booking information into a consistent decision-making format.
The custom booking system centralizes availability and member reservation tasks in one workflow.
A lightweight Astro front end prioritizes essential cabin and booking information without heavy page assets.
Live screens
Desktop and mobile captures from the live site, not mockups.
