N° 03Field notes — Prince George

What we know about building here.

¶ 01

The market

Prince George is the service hub for a catchment of more than 300,000 people, and the businesses that win here win far beyond city limits. We build sites for PG companies the same way we build for our Okanagan neighbours - remotely, on a tight process, with every pixel earning its keep. That means trades and industrial suppliers who need to rank from Quesnel to Mackenzie, clinics and firms serving the university-and-hospital crowd, and retailers competing with the big boxes along Highway 16. PG buyers are practical: they want the price range, the service area, and the phone number without hunting for any of it.

¶ 02

The economy

Forestry is still the backbone - pulp, sawmills, and the supply chains around them - but healthcare, UNBC, and logistics have steadily diversified the base. The defining dynamic is the catchment: a PG business's real market is a 300 km radius, so a site that only targets 'Prince George' leaves most of its territory invisible. Service-area pages for the satellite towns routinely out-earn the homepage.

¶ 04

A local quirk worth naming

PG is a two-audience city: the institutional crowd around UNBC, the hospital, and downtown government offices, and the industrial corridor out the Hart and along Highway 97. The same site has to read credible to both - polished enough for a procurement officer, direct enough for a mill contractor.

Cody and his team are incredible. I worked with him to design my website and it is so beautiful and user friendly. Any time I have questions or need changes done, Cody is so fast at implementing them. It makes me feel like he really understands how important business ownership and customer service is and that he cares about how our businesses do. I am so happy I was able to find Cody at The Bomb and feel safe that my website is managed by him and his team. It is a huge weight off my shoulders. Thank you for your amazing work and attention to detail. I am grateful.

Cody is so easy to work with; he's intelligent, intuitive, experienced, and skilled at getting to the heart of what it is you want in a website, even if youre not sure yourself at first :) He asks great questions and works FAST…he indulged all my "stupid" questions with grace and kindness and truly guided me through the daunting process. The product he turned out for me is gorgeous and functional and Im SO happy with the result! I cant recommend Cody highly enough!"
